| THE BIGGEST CROATIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR… |
|
|
CroStock Information
Background:
Music is at the heart of every Croatian. It plays a huge role in the culture and tradition of our Croatian heritage and so we are proud to continue this very popular and unique event at our Croatian park on Green Mountain Road.
Concept:
All of the local area Croatian bands are asked to join and participate in a day long music lineup that provides guests with a great experience while helping with the debt from the construction and new building costs which are still the priority for our fundraising effots.
Every band who is registered to participate in CroStock on August 13 has agreed to play for free and directly support our community centre and fundraising efforts. A very big thank you to all bands who have agreed to play as this is a significant contribution to our centre!
What to Expect on August 13…
Timing
The park gates will open at 10am as a result of the bocce tournament which kicks off at noon sharp. The music will begin around 5pm and go until late in the evening. Many CroStockers arrive before 5pm though to get comfortable in the park, have a bite to eat and get a good spot in the park prior to the music starting.
Music
The lineup of bands allows for the enjoyment of Croatian music for all members (young and old). What the bands usually coordinate on their own is to arrange the lineup in a way where the music becomes more geared toward the younger demographic as the evening progresses, with the last few sets resembling in a small way our famous Bash at the Beach atmosphere which we are excited to try and replicate even without the “beach” part.
Food
Great variety of food at this music festival cooked by your very own Hammer Cro Chef’s. Come experience the new creations for 2016 (these guys do not disappoint).
Entrance
$10 entrance per person. As mentioned above, with the bands playing for free, this entrance fee covers the costs of food and allows for the balance of the proceeds to go directly towards helping pay down the costs of the new building.
We hope to see everyone on August 13 for a fun filled day of Music and Sport for all ages!

DINAMO ZAGREB SOCCER CAMP A HUGE SUCCESS!
For the second year in a row, the Dinamo Soccer Camp was a tremendous success at our Croatian Centre on Green Mountain Road.
This year we have the Dinamo camp work with individual teams at Hamilton Croatia which we know will have an impact on the development and growth of their performance and learning. We look forward to continuing with this type of interaction and enhance their presence at our park next year.
If anyone has any questions or feedback from the camp that we can use to improve as we work with them to organize in the offseason please let us know by emailing John Pasalic at i.j.pasalic@gmail.com.
Another special thank you to John Lulich from Admiral Inn for their role as the camp’s main sponsor for the second straight year!

| HAMILTON CROATIA AWARDED CITY ENRICHMENT FUNDS
The City of Hamilton, with the approval of the Mayor and City Council, have awarded Hamilton Croatia with a $3,600 grant as part of the City Enrichment Fund program. This is the second year our organization has been selected for this funding based the youth sports program we have underway at Hamilton Croatia.
This financial award is injected directly into the youth soccer program and the services we offer our youth members throughout the soccer season. It is also recognition from the municipal government of the hard work and dedication that goes into the Hamilton Croatia Youth Soccer Program. |

DEFIBRILLATOR NOW ON SITE!
Since the beginning of this summer season, our park has become a safer and more equipped facility to deal with life threatening emergencies that take place on our grounds.
A defibrillator has been installed just inside the doors of the facility under canopy. In the event that an emergency takes place during one of our sporting events or perhaps to someone during a picnic, the fact that help can be administered by those trained in minutes (likely before 911 can arrive) means that all of us are safer with a defibrillator now on site.
We have installed signs indicating the exact location of the unit for high visibility along with instructions on the unit itself for those handling it during an emergency. Please note, this device should only be executed by those with the proper training as it could cause more harm if used incorrectly. Several of the Executives and restaurant staff have been trained recently.
A HUGE THANK YOU…VINCE MAMONE!
As we were investigating the purchase and installation of a defibrillator at GMR, a member of our organization stepped up in a huge way. Yet again an example of how blessed we are to have such unbelievable people on our side.
Vince Mamone, of Rapid Intervention Inc., is a licensed CPR trainer for various levels of life saving techniques and courses, recognized the need for a defibrillator on our premises and purchased the unit for us!!!
This was a very generous and notable donation for our community and we would again like to thank Vince and his family for the contribution to our centre. This carries both a financial and more importantly, a health and safety boost to our community centre.
For any questions on the unit or training on its use (or for those interested in other training courses provided by Vince) please feel free to contact Vince directly at (905) 973-8871 or at firetruck10@hotmail.com. His business card is also attached to the defibrillator case for those interested in learning more about such an important subject.

FACILITY UPGRADES
Over the past couple of months, we have completed significant upgrades at our centre.
For example, the work complete to date includes:
– Stone Pillars with Concrete Tops
– Concrete Signs with LED lighting
– Motorized Front Gate
– Asphalted Parking Lot (with walkway to bocce courts)
Again we have received a tremendous amount of help from our members. Under the support and direction of Steven Radencich, Tommy Saic and Mark Vuksan, some of the main volunteers and donors from our community include:
- Mike Adzijevich (Fabtech), Ivica and Velja Bago, Ignac Radencich and Nick Sopcic
There was also a considerable amount of general help that was provided by:
- Rudy Habus, Jason Krlin, Ivica & Joza Poklecki, Ruda Ribaric, Ivo Stanic
Also, there was a tremendous amount of work requried during the flooding cleanup and repairs a couple of months ago. We would like to thank everyone who helped return the storage room to an operational state. A few of the names (we are sure others stepped up as well) that come to mind include:
- Mike Belair, Mike Cumuric, Brian & Jason Krlin, Frank Perin, Ivica & Joza Poklecki, Michael & Steven Radencich and Andy Vrsaljko
