Great weekend for Croatian youth teams!U9 Boys Blue win their division!
Frank Perin — This past weekend Hamilton Croatia’s youth teams were all in Norval for the Annual HNNS Youth Tournament for a fantastic two-day tournament for boys and girls from 8-to-16 years-old.
“Great job by all our teams. I was there Saturday and the tournament was terrific. Great job by the organizers,” commented Hamilton Croatia House League Coordinator Ivan Rados.
Hamilton Croatia had some solid results, including the Under-9 Boys Blue team winning their division championship, and four other semifinal appearances.
Under-10 Boys coach Tom Saic remarked, “It was nice to see all the teams hang out and support each other. Next year we host the tournament, so a few more first place finishes would be great!
The annual Croatian youth tournament has continually grown in size over the past five years, and we hope to see it grow even more when the tournament returns to Hamilton for the first time since 2008. The amount of teams has nearly doubled since then.
Rados added, “We have secured Heritage Green and the 2014 tournament will take place there. They have five full-sized fields — one is turf — along with two baseball diamonds and lots of parking. The current plan is to also use the facilities at The Centre on Green Mountain Road in some capacity.”
Heritage Green is minutes away from The Centre.
“We are currently reviewing a number of items like grants, hotels, liquor licence, etc. We should be expecting about 65 teams based on this years numbers.”
Hamilton Croatia’s 2014 tournament committee will be meeting in the coming weeks to review the issues and work on next steps.
