Dodds’ game winner only highlight in uneventful win
Jamie Dodds scored his second goal in the past three games.
NORTH YORK — A goal by FC Hamilton Croatia midfielder Jamie Dodds was enough to give his team victory over North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium in the only CSL game on Saturday. Dodds collected the ball following a scramble in the penalty box and chipped the ball over the oncoming North York goalkeeper at the 34th minute mark to score from inside the six-yard line. The win elevated Hamilton Croatia to third position in the standings with an opportunity to be one of the favoured top four when the playoffs come around in less than two weeks. The top four of the eight teams entering the playoffs for the CSL championship will have first option of playing the first leg of the home and away two-game quarterfinal series at home or away. The top four will also earn the home draw for the one-game semifinal. FC Hamilton Croatia have a 12-6-5 WLT record for 41 points with one game remaining in their regular season schedule, a clash with Milltown FC at Brian Timmis Stadium on Tuesday.
