Ron Davidson’s hard work pays off
Ron Davidson accepts the award from soccer broadcast journalist Dick Howard.
Frank Perin — Some overdue compliments are in order for Ron Davidson. He was chosen by his fellow CSL coaches as 2010 Canadian Soccer League Coach of the Year. He accepted the award prior to the CSL Playoff Final on October 31st. Ronnie guided Hamilton to an astounding first year. The team finished tied for the league-lead in wins and goal-differential, and also boasted the CSL’s best offence. Croatia ended the season two points out of first place in the standings, and had their league-high nine-game winning streak snapped in the playoff final. “A big thanks for your tremendous support this season, by far the best in the league,” stated Davidson to the fans of Hamilton Croatia. “I hope for the most part you have enjoyed the product on the field. Your support has been a huge part of this achievement.” Ronnie works tirelessly on two fronts — with Hamilton Croatia, and also developing young Canadian talent with the Winstars Soccer Academy. “Congatulations to Ronnie, he is one of the best coaches in the country and to his Hamilton Croatia Soccer Club, a club that has so much tradition and professionalism and great fans and runs a first class organization,” said Academy Director Bobby Graham. “All of us at Winstars are so proud of Ronnie and looking forward to him starting his third year with our academy.” The distinction marks back-to-back awards for Davidson. He was named Ontario Soccer League Coach of the Year following an impressive first-place finish in the OSL Provincial West Division in 2009.
