Frank Perin — On Saturday, April 30th, 2011 HNNS Tournament hosts Croatia Hamilton and last year’s hosts St. Catharines Hrvat squared off in the “Kick-Off to Labour Day 2011″ at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
The game was preceded by the group draw for the 48th Tournament (held live online for the first time ever) and was hosted in conjunction with the HNNS Semi-Annual meeting which was at The Croatian Sports Club earlier in the day.
The “Kick-Off to Labour Day” friendly — also a tournament first — was won by Hamilton, 4-3, as the two squads used the match to prepare for their upcoming seasons.
It marked the beginning of many events that will lead up to this year’s tournament from September 2nd-to-the-4th.
