Dinamo supporting Hamilton Croatia
Hamilton Croatia continues to galvanize relationships with organizations and individuals who make us better!
This week, two coaches from Dinamo Zagreb arrived at our club and will stay and work with our coaches for the next three weeks. Ugo Klingor and Sasa Kanizar will be working with our coaches and individual teams teaching them the “Dinamo way”. We are very fortunate to have these talented coaches from the Dinamo youth system join us this summer to help further develop our youth soccer program. We look forward to a long partnership with these coaches, and clubs like Dinamo Zagreb, as they help develop our young athletes and maintain the ties to our Croatian roots. Please join us in welcoming them to our park when you see them around
Ugo is in the picture on the left and Sasa is seen below with his Dinamo youth team and is the coach on the right in that picture
We would also like to thank the Lulich Family for their sponsorship of this endeavor and hosting them at the Comfort Inn in Burlington during their time here with us.
Men’s A-team Fundraiser
The Hamilton Croatia Men’s Soccer Team is hosting a fundraising golf event to help offset some of the costs for the team to get to the Annual HNNS Tournament, this year being hosted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The day will include 18 holes with cart at Southbrook Golf & Country Club, located at 4349 Regional Road 56 in Binbrook. It will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m., with dinner at The Croatia Club at 166 Green Mountain Road to follow the round. Prizes for long drive and closest to the pin will be handed out.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE SAME TOURNAMENT AS OUR ANNUAL HAMILTON CROATIA GOLF CLASSIC HELD EVERY SEPTEMBER AT KING’S FOREST. THAT ONE IS BEING HELD ON THE USUAL WEEKEND AFTER LABOUR DAY, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH.
For those interested in A-team league action, the next three games are as follows:
Saturday, July 1 at 7pm vs East Hamilton at Sackville
Tuesday, July 4 at 7pm vs Hamilton Polonia at Sackville
Sunday, July 9 at 2pm vs Globe FC at Sam Manson Park
Support for our teams both at and off the pitch like at the tournament above is always greatly appreciated.
Zvonar Goes Coast to Coast for Mental Health
Hamilton Croatia’s very own Jim Zvonar will do the unthinkable and attempt to bike across Canada in what is needless to say a long trip (approx 7,500km) to raise money for mental health suicide awareness and prevention. On behalf of our members, and to support such an important cause, Hamilton Croatia has made a modest $1,000 donation in honour of Jim’s campaign on this selfless initiative to help others.
To read more about Jim’s challenge, and to consider sponsorsing him as well, please visit www.cyclingc2c.ca or you can find more information through an article published in the Hamilton News here: https://www.hamiltonnews.com/community-story/7381458-stoney-creek-native-cycling-coast-to-coast-for-mental-health/
Good luck Jim!
Making our park safer and more comfortable
With the rise of ticks in the Hamilton area that could potentially affect someone at our park, the Croatian Sports and Community Centre grounds has been professionally sprayed for ticks earlier this month. The company will again spray in early September and has a guarantee for eradicating ticks from the area sprayed. This should be sufficient for our entire park. If you notice a tick, please let someone at the centre know so we can discuss this with the company.
Also, more so as a convenience to our members who engage in activities after the sun sets, this same company also has a service to reduce the number of mosquitoes at our park. The mosquito issue is a little more difficult to solve completely, however they do say there should be fewer of them now and so we are curious again if your experience over the course of this summer is better than in past years.
Hamilton Croatia Invades Cleveland
Along with many other Croatian youth club teams from Canada and the United States, Hamilton Croatia is sending it’s youth teams to participate in the Annual Youth Croatian Tournament of North America which takes place on July 1-2 in Cleveland, Ohio.
We wish our teams and families traveling all the best and a safe and enjoyable trip and tournament.
