Tate Capture Their First MBL Title
Perns — A one-sided affair quickly turned into a great Men’s Bocce League Championship match.
Kaj Bus Jarane started off great in game one and held off a late charge by Tate, winning 16-12.
Game two started off the same way as the first. Jasenko Filipovic was solid as the lead, and the two-three tandem of Tom Bilic and Greg Zedlar were hitting and laying, staking the Jarani to an 11-2 lead.
After a few rotation shifts from Tate, they went back to their natural Rados-Sokic-Pavo. This change proved to be huge, scoring eight unanswered points to make the score 11-10. After a one point end went to KBJ, Tate scored a pair to knot things at 12-12.
After falling behind yet again, Tate had a great chance to score four and end the game. The bulin bounced up in the air and hit Jasenko’s leg, but it was ruled out of bounds — that end was abandoned. Nonetheless, Tate regrouped, went down the opposite way to tie it at 13-13, then scored one to take the lead, and followed that up with two nice rolls to win 16-13 and send the match to a third set.
Tomo Rados was hot from the start pushing his team to a 10-0 lead. KBJ looked shaken after blowing the huge lead in the second set and struggled, while Tate had the previous playoff experience to outlast the underdog Thursday night 9th seed and take the deciding set 16-5 to capture their first MBL title.
