And the CISL is about to begin!Season eight should be great!
Frank Perin — The Croatian Indoor Soccer League of Hamilton kicks off it’s eighth season of play Friday, it’s second straight with Player’s Paradise in Stoney Creek as it’s home.
And in keeping with the same theme as last season, all post-game festivities including the CISL Christmas party on December 21st, The Hockey Day Draft on February 15th, and the year-end party on March 8th will be hosted at Lotos.
“I am pleased to announce that a sponsorship deal for the league has been put in place once again with Lotos for 2012-13 CISL season. Last year we had a great time and we hope that everyone continues supporting our club sponsor again this year by stopping in after games. See you all Friday — in case you aren’t sure, I’m the sexy guy with incredible skills, not hard to miss.” posted Club President Mark Vuksan on hamiltoncroatia.com/forum.
This next part was copied from last year’s pre-season write-up: “Lotos offers ten large-screen televisions, two pool tables, a ping-pong table, dart boards, food, drinks, music, and even sometimes live nightly entertainment.”
Like last year, ALL teams are greatly encouraged and asked to stop by every Friday and show support for those that support our league!
The one time we will not be at Lotos is on Friday, January 11th, 2013, when we will all be at the Croatian National Home for a HammerCro Stag – mark this date down and be there!
So the game and post-game venues have stayed the same, but there are a couple of changes from last season. Two squads have left, one has re-branded, and three new ones have entered, upping the league total to nine teams.
The five returning teams include Brandy Bowl Champions Holivud Hrvat, Zivko Cup Champions Kontra, NK Vatrogasac, league winners Poskoci, and Vatreni.
Crozil and Uvijek Vjerni (AKA Mlade Puske) are gone, while Prazan Kuler (much like the Brooklyn Nets) have re-branded — they are now Pun Kuler.
The three new teams include KitaBanana, Marko T., and NK Drinkec – we’ll assume that Marko T. is only a temporary name until his squad votes on what the “T” stands for (I say Team … that’s right – Marko Team).
With nine teams, each team will have two bye-weeks, so make sure to check with your GM for your schedule (will also be posted online soon).
And for the first time ever in the CISL there will be a one-night tournament for the League Cup (trophy name to be determined). This is going to be held on Friday, December 28th.
Games will still be played six-on-six plus a goalie, and the three-goal penalty shot rule will remain a shot from half on an empty net.
The season ends on March 8th and there is no plan for a playoff.
