John Šulug — As we have seen our youth soccer development program grow considerably over the past five years we have had a strong interest from many parents and children wanting to join Hamilton Croatia because of our focus on community, culture, and of course, teaching our kids the great passion we all have for the world’s greatest game! With that, we are pleased announce that we have now created a new Tier 2 soccer team for our boys born 2005 for the upcoming 2016 season! What this means is that Hamilton Croatia will be fielding two teams in the U11 Boys age group, Tier 1 & Tier 2.
Our 2005 Boys in their 2015 summer season.
In addition, we are excited to announce that the new Head Coach for this team will be Gord Cepuran. Gord has been coaching youth soccer for well over 10 years from ages 8-17. He has coached teams for Stoney Creek and Saltfleet soccer clubs, and is still an active player in the Men’s Over-35 League in Hamilton. Gord has all accreditation required to take on this new challenge. In addition, he will be applying for his Provincial “C” licence for Ontario Soccer this month, one of the highest levels of coaching accreditation that the Canadian Soccer Association offers coaches. Assistant coaches will be Jeff Adair and Rafael Opacek. Jeff joins us as well from the recently amalgamated Saltfleet/Stoney Creek soccer club where he has been an assistant with Gord Cepuran over past few years. Rafael has been a part of Hamilton Croatia as a supporter, and shares a deep passion for this sport which he wants to share with our youth. Welcome to the Hamilton Croatia coaching team Gord, Jeff and Rafael! Our Vision for ALL our 2005 boys: With the addition of this new U11 team Gord and John Sulug will be working closely together to ensure there is team unity amongst all our 2005 boys and their development program. Our 2005 boys age group has grown from 12 boys five years ago to 27 boys today! For this winter and the 2016 season, we will be running two teams with a “master pool roster” that will combine all 27 boys — and possibly more — for development opportunities as they arise throughout the training season, games and festivals. The teams will be working closely together and will be running a strong “call up” program to ensure children are getting the most out of their soccer development with our club. At the same time, this strategy will ensure we develop a strong base of future Hamilton Croatia soccer talent for the upcoming years!
